Università degli Studi di Palermo is a public university located in the city of Palermo, Italy, and founded in 1806. It also has detatched campuses in the cities of Trapani, Marsala, Caltanissetta, and Agrigento. It is organized into twelve faculties. In 2016, it had around 48,000 students. Among its notable alumni is Sergio Matarella, the current President of the Italian Republic, in office since February 2015.
